Katy Perry ushered in spring in an unusual way this week. The "Dark Horse" singer switched up her staple black hair for some green tresses on Monday — "slime green" to be exact. Proudly posting the results on her Instagram, Perry wrote. "SLIME GREEN FOR SPRING by my bb's@neeenaboo & @brantmayfield at the@mcmillansalon." Although some may think this new dye job is out of the blue (pun intended), any logical female will tell you Katy is simply following "Girl Code." As our "Girl Code" experts will tell you, a hair transformation is usually a product of a turning point in a girl's life. And with a recent breakup from John Mayer, her Prismatic World Tour in full swing and her "Birthday" single about to drop any day now, Katy seems to have taken the term "turning a new leaf" quite literally.
This got us thinking. Perry isn't the first celeb to switch up her 'do to mark a new chapter in her life and/or career. Here are other celebs that've followed Girl Code.
Movie Awards performer Rih Rih is known for being a hairstyle chameleon. From mohawks to pixie cuts — she's tried it all. But back in 2007, Rih marked the transcendence of her cookie-cutter pop image with a short asymmetric bob in "Umbrella." This was a definite turning point for the "good girl gone bad." Kim K Rocks Blonde Post-Baby
Shortly after she gave birth to her and Kanye's bundle of joy, Kim decided to say "I'm back" by not only slimming down to her famous figure, but also by going bodaciously blonde! Taylor Swift
To celebrate the end of her worldwide Red Tour back in February, T-Swift had her ends meet with a pair of scissors. She posted a pic sporting a chin-length bob, tweeting, "London, I could never thank you enough. See you next time! P.S. Short hair, don't care (!!!)"
Hathaway
In 2012's "Les Miserables," Hathaway chopped off almost all of her hair in anguish. Even though she suffered onscreen, the bold move and amazing performance in the role earned her an Academy Award in 2013 for Best Supporting Actress. And really, who needs hair when you've got the most coveted Hollywood hardware?

Unlike Taylor, Demi couldn't wait until the end of her tour to transform herself. While at a stop of her Neon Lights Tour in March 2014, the punky pop star, who was already rocking a bright pink hue, shaved the side of her head. Why? Because, "IDGAF" she tweeted. Miley Cyrus
Miley's blonde pixie fade-out is one of the most noteworthy hair switch ups in recent history. Determined to get rid of her wholesome Disney image, Miley first snapped a pic after snipping her dirty blonde mane back in 2012 and she hasn't looked back since. The platinum pixie cut definitely helped reincarnate Miley into the tongue waggin', dry-humping maniac we know and love today.
