Kanye West Producer Evian Christ Gives Details On Next Album

It was just a week ago that Kanye West postponed his Yeezus Tour, reportedly to work on his new album. Now, producer Evian Christ has dropped a few hints about the project. "I've got to get home and write an Otis Redding--style beat for him," the producer said during an interview with Self-Titled. "He e-mailed last night. He wants something that sounds a bit like Otis Redding, a bit like Mobb Deep." 'Ye enlisted Christ for his last album, Yeezus, for which the U.K. native produced "I'm in It." The 24-year-old offered the kind of sounds that West was looking for on his sixth album. "Kanye is the one dude who's like, 'This is not experimental enough. This is too poppy. Make something else,' " he said. "The other guys are like, 'We don't get it.' Kanye is a dream to work with. No one else gives you that level of creative freedom. When he wants you to work to a blueprint, the blueprint is: Don't make a rap beat. Anything but a rap beat." Despite what he said about his work with West, Christ tweeted on Thursday that he didn't want anyone to take his words about the next project as gospel:

"I haven't named my next album, but I have started on it," 'Ye said back in November. "I write down philosophies all the time so I'll just have some thoughts and I just constantly, every time I think of it I write it. I'm just collecting. I'm just constantly working." The following month, he gave a few more details. "I think my next album is going to be eight songs," Kanye said during Art Basel in December. "It's just reducing down the amount of information that you need. People say a design is the point where you can't take anything else away. [Yeezus] was very, very designed. I took a departure from radio and popular music in order to get this seat here." The Yeezus Tour is scheduled to pick back up in Australia in September.
